
Start with a new grayscale image.
Apply Filter>Noise>Add
Noise...
Use a value of 999.
Apply Filter>Blur>Guassian
Blur
Use a value of 3.
Image>Adjust>Auto
Levels
Filter>Stylize>Diffuse
Select Darken Only and
apply four more times (Hit Cmd-F 4 times.)
Change the mode to RGB (Mode>RGB Color.)
Then Image>Adjust>Hue/Saturation...
Check the Colorize box.
Use a value of 40 for the Hue and
value of -20 for the Lightness.
Change the hue for more of a bone marrow look. You can now create realistic
looking hollow-cell textures.
